We woke this morning and left the hotel by 7:00 AM. We had protein bars, bananas, and coffee with us for breakfast on the run. Our goal was to reach Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park by sunrise. Our hotel was less than a half an hour away, so we would be close.
Last evening we found our Air BnB room in a victorian home in the Capitol Hill area of Denver. It was a very nice room in a big, beautiful old house. We were hungry and shortly after we settled, headed out to find food.
Our morning was a bit lazy in Limon, Colorado. We woke about 7:00 AM and took our time getting ready to head out. I took an opportunity to do some Pilates to warm up my sleepy body knowing it would be a busier day than just sitting in the car. After coffee and a bite to eat, we pointed the car towards Estes Park, Colorado to visit our first park of the trip, Rocky Mountain National Park.
Despite the room we had for the night being in a big neighborhood just outside of St. Louis, Missouri, the room was surprisingly quiet. Katie Q and I rested well and felt good to start Day 2. We were packed and ready to roll by 7:00 AM. Right on schedule!
My friend Katie Q and her husband are relocating from Pennsylvania to California. When she first shared the news with me, she explained they would be moving out separately due to work conflicts. When she said she would be driving her car across the country she threw in “Do you want to come?” It took me about 30 seconds to respond with a resounding YES!
Best laid plans… Right?
Today I planned to take Jaxon outside to play and tire him so I could do some trip planning at the computer enjoying peace and quiet.
It has been raining almost constantly.
Hubby and I decided to do a road trip this weekend. Our adventure would be to travel south to Virginia. As some of you know, I spent some of my formative years in Virginia working my first job as a nurse. I fell in love with the location and solidified my passion for nursing.
The past two weekends have been full of travel and celebrations. One weekend was a short road trip. Long road trip another. VERY long. Both joyous occasions full of new experiences spent with wonderful people.
The first weekend of the month, we celebrated an outdoor wedding at a farm located just over an hour from the homestead. It was a glorious summer day. The setting for the ceremony was on the edge of a pond. Our friends picked a fantastic location for bringing together family and friends.
