Flashcard!

Submitted by Damselfly

Jaxon was kind enough to wake me up at 4:10 AM.  Nature call. Ugh.  I dutifully followed him to the door and took him for his routine walk around the yard.  As we made our way to his favorite spots, the sky lit up.  Shortly after, a rumble of thunder sounded in the distance.  A storm was coming.

Books

Yes, I use Facebook. I know there are those that scoff at social media, and I too find that some use it for evil rather than good. However, I have found it to be a fantastic way to not only remain connected to friends and family around the world, but to connect quickly with new people, and expand my understanding of them.  With that, I am not a huge fan of “challenges” on Facebook.  Until now…

Granny Harris

Submitted by Damselfly

There are some words you hear (or read) that automatically make you smile.  Maybe it is “puppies”.  Maybe it is “chocolate” (or “gin and tonic)”. Despite the fact that she has been gone many years, I cannot say “Granny Harris” without a smile.

Today was Granny’s birthday. Today is the reason friends and family (FRAmily) will be partying tomorrow.  Rain or shine, we will be smiling.

Comfort

Submitted by Damselfly

As I sit and type today, I am once again sitting in my friend Fancy’s home in Maryland.  A year ago, we were walking the streets of Annapolis.  We stopped at shops, museums, and found tasty food and drink.  We laughed and talked and did what girlfriends of many years do when they get together.  There is comfort in friendships where you do not have to explain or apologize for time that passes.  There is comfort in unconditional love.

The Bucket

Submitted by Damselfly

It has been an exceptionally long time since I have written.  As I sit to write today, my brain is a whirlwind of activity and I am not sure how to start.  Last week, my sweet boy Jaxon was sick.  I will spare you the gory details...

Happiness

Submitted by Damselfly

Every morning I wake up early.  It is usually well before sunrise, especially this time of year.  I take Jaxon out, drink a big glass of water, and think about how wonderful my first cup of coffee is going to taste.  I sit down with my coffee, and open my “gratitude journal”.  Today, the quote written at the top of the page read:

“Happiness is a how; not a what.  A talent, not an object.”  Herman Hesse

Strongest You - Chapter 6

Submitted by Damselfly

January is likely my least favorite month of the year.  It is knee-deep into winter.  Some days we have snow, some rain, but rarely do we have sunshine.  The daylight hours themselves are still relatively short, but we ARE making our way towards spring.  It is a dreary time of the year and I feel it.  My body feels sluggish.  My mind screams for carbohydrates and other comfort foods.
