Waiting

Submitted by Damselfly

I am sitting in a hospital.  A friend called and asked if I would be his transport for a minor procedure today.  All is going well.  I am waiting.  The sun is shining through giant windows in the sitting area.  My mind is flowing back to a sunny day spent last month with my friend Rainbow in British Columbia.

Kid Time

Submitted by Damselfly

I have had a hard time focusing over the past couple of months.  It is highly unusual for me.  Generally, I am focused and move through my day with little mental effort.  Not lately.  I get through the early morning knocking tasks off of my list.  Then noontime comes and I hit a wall.  I am tired, feeling like I am moving through molasses.

Dirty Work

Submitted by Damselfly

Before I get back to sharing my last few days in British Columbia, I feel compelled to share the events of the last week.  Sometimes, adventure lies just around the bend without even looking for it.  Home ownership can be an adventure all on its own.  With the home, there is usually the “project list”.  Some planned, some not planned.

Promises

Submitted by Damselfly

There are people I have met in life, felt a connection, and said “Let’s get together again.”  Or “Let’s keep in touch”.  Or “Let’s not let so much time pass between our visits.” Our friendship may have started through fly fishing, or cycling, or work, or mutual friendships, or even family that lives far away.  After spending some time together in fellowship, the promise is made to reunite somewhere, sometime.  Often, life gets in the way.

Beauty

Today’s blog was written high above the clouds with no way to post from “up there”.  Now that my feet are back on the ground, I share my thoughts of the day:

At present it is 2:11 PM Mountain Standard Time.  I am sitting in a Boeing 737…

Summertime

Happy Summer Solstice!

This is can be a bittersweet day in the year.  The first day of summer, which means the countdown is ON.  This marks the longest day in the year, which means little by little, the day start getting shorter.  Although solstice has pagan origins related to fertility and harvest, it is a reminder to me that it is a day of light.

Just Today

Submitted by Damselfly

When I was working my traditional job, I lamented that I did not always have time to do the things I wanted to do.  Work, and the commute to and from, consumed the weekdays.  Chores around the homestead, time with family, and an occasional outing took up the weekend.  In the last few years I worked there was never time for more than that.

Reunions 2017

Submitted by Damselfly

I realize as I write today that last week I did not take time to blog.  Literally… I did not TAKE time.  I was a busy woman with so many other things that writing fell to the side.  I also realize, as I write, that I enjoy being able to share my thoughts and experiences… thinking out loud.  One of the things I have fallen prey to over the years is taking on too much day-to-day.  I end up with so much on my plate that I start pushing things aside.  Not intentionally, mind you, but pushed none the less.
